Vaccine Updates

Updated: Jan 2, 2023

In more Covid related news, I have checked the NCDHHS website and it would appear that massage therapists and Rolfers fall into section 3. We are front facing workers but are not considered essential. I have submitted to be put in line for phase 3, and am on a waiting list. My preference is to get the Moderna vaccine over the Pfizer but I will take what I can get.

Both the Moderna and the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines require two shots: a priming dose, followed by a booster shot. The interval between Moderna doses is 28 days; for the Pfizer vaccine, it's 21 days. Each dose of Pfizer's contains 30 micrograms of vaccine. Moderna went with a much larger dose of vaccine, 100 micrograms.

For those of you considering vaccination, you should be aware that currently the vaccine is only 95% effective. People who have been vaccinated have protected themselves up to 95% but are not protecting the people around them. If you get the vaccine you could still be a silent carrier of the virus and, on top of that, you have to wait 100 days after vaccination for the vaccine to reach the 95% effectiveness rating. In other words, even once I'm vaccinated I could still be a danger to you until you get the vaccine.
